A device for improving the sound quality of an acoustic musical instrument made of wood provided with a plurality of metallic strings (12) comprises a hollow casing (2) adapted to be placed above the strings (12) of the instrument (10), means (7) for generating an electromagnetic field housed into said casing (2) and having a plurality of emitting elements (70) for orienting the electromagnetic field toward the strings (12) of the instrument (10), said hollow casing (2) being provided with coupling elements (5) for its mounting on the instrument (10) at a predetermined distance from the strings (12) such as to maintain the emitting elements (10) raised from the strings and induce, without contact, independent vibration thereof by means of the electromagnetic field.
