PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dovetail groove type work-piece gripper and a dovetail groove type work-piece gripping method capable of accurately gripping one of various types of work-pieces at an arbitrary position.;SOLUTION: A dovetail groove type work-piece gripper 1a, 1b comprises: a support base; a position-fixing slide block 3a, 3b to be fixed at an arbitrary position on a movable area of the support base with a stopper 7 tightened; a position-setting slide block 2a, 2b freely slidable with respect to the support base at an arbitrary position on a movable area of the support base with a fitting between a dovetail groove and a dovetail; and a male threaded bar 4 having a thread part passing through a cavity part provided in the position-fixing slide block 3a, 3b, and engaging with the setting slide block 2a, 2b, and connected with a handle part 5.
