The present invention discloses tertiary amine initiators useful for making polyurethane polymers, particularly polyurethane foams, and polymer polyol compositions made therefrom. The polyurethane polymer foam exhibits a good balance of mechanical properties, physical properties, and low release. The tertiary amine initiator is a reaction product of a dihydroxy tertiary amine and a polyhydroxy alcohol, such as a reaction product of N-methylethanolamine and glycerin. [Selection figure] None
