PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnesium (Mg) alloy casting material having excellent fire retardancy and workability, an Mg alloy casting coil material, an Mg alloy expanding material, an Mg alloy joint material, a method for producing an Mg alloy casting material, a method for producing an Mg alloy expanding material, and a method for producing an Mg alloy member.SOLUTION: Provided is a magnesium alloy casting material made of an Al-containing magnesium alloy, the magnesium alloy uses an AZ91 alloy in the ASTM standard as a base ally, further contains Ca by 0.5 to 3 mass%, and the balance Mg with inevitable impurities, has a DAS below 4.5 μm, contains the first intermetallic compounds including Al and Ca and the second intermetallic compounds including Al and Mg, in which both the intermetallic compounds between the first intermetallic compounds and the second intermetallic compounds have parts jointly present, and the average particle diameter of the first intermetallic compounds is 2μm or lower.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
