PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine abnormality of a virtual machine appropriately when the virtual machine can be intentionally deleted.SOLUTION: A virtual machine management system is provided with: a plurality of physical machines 100; a monitoring server 200; and an environment management server 300. A situation reception part 302 of the environment management server receives operation situations showing whether or not a virtual machine to be monitored is operated from the physical machines 100 emulating the virtual machine. A setting update part 205 of the monitoring server updates monitoring setting information storing identification information about the virtual machine to be monitored that is stored by a setting storage part 201 on the basis of the operation situations received by the situation reception part 302. A transmission request part 202 transmits to the virtual machine shown by the identification information stored in the monitoring setting information a transmission request of state information that shows a state of the virtual machine. A state reception part 203 receives the state information transmitted by the virtual machine in response to the transmission request.
