computer-implemented method for detecting a potential for dynamic instability in a fluid system, a computer system for modeling a fluid system having a single phase flow section and a multiphase flow section, and computer readable methods, apparatus and Computer readable media are provided, including a computer-implemented method for detecting a potential for dynamic instability in a fluid system. The method includes generating a first transfer function in a frequency domain. The first transfer function relates a pressure drop disturbance to a fluid velocity disturbance in a single phase flow section of the fluid system. The method further includes generating a second frequency domain transfer function. The second transfer function relates a pressure drop disturbance to a fluid velocity disturbance in a multiphase flow section of the fluid system. The method also includes determining, using a processor, that the fluid system is potentially unstable using a combination of the first and second transfer functions.
