Loss of sight is a state of missing the visual perception due to functional or brain-related factors. The partial blindness represents the lack of amalgamation in the growth of the optic nerve or visual centre of the eye, and total blindness is the full of the vision constraint. In this proposed project work, a simple, cheap, user friendly, virtual eye is to be designed and employed to improve the ability to move around the visually impaired persons. The proposed project work includes a wearable equipment consist of a head band which can help the blind person to travel anywhere safely and to avoid obstacles and also this electronic gadget can detect the alpha-numeric characters, either on a fixed frame or a video frame, and also we have included a music player through which the visually impaired person can use it as an entertaining system as well. Ultrasonic sensors and Proximity sensors are used as the obstacle detector which holds up with the range and dynamics of the obstacle found. The Raspberry pi speech synthesizer is used for the communication purpose of obstacle and also the alpha-numeric characters by the means of connected earphone.
