摘要
ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION Today, Laminated Composites are widely used in various industries as important structural components. Unlike metals, strain induced and damage states of an anisotropic composite are hard to predict under real time loading. With that focus, a piezoresistivity material based Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) system for laminated composite is proposed in this invention with potential to measure the different structural and environmental parameters under real time loading. In this innovation, the piezoresistive sensors are embedded into the laminated composite in an array of rows and columns to monitor the different structural parameters such as deformation, damage, intensity of damage, location of damage and residual strength of the damaged composites and environmental parameters such as temperature etc. Each piezoresistive sensor embedded in the laminated composites in an array of rows and columns will act as independent sensor. When damage or any deformation induced in the laminated composites, the piezoresistance of the embedded sensors are getting varied with respect to the damage or deformation. This corresponding fractional change in the piezoresistance of the embedded sensors is measured by a data acquisition system. From this processed data, the various structural health parameters of the laminated composites can be correlated. Thus, with these potential sensing capabilities, the embedded array of piezoresistive sensors is used to monitor the different structural health parameters under real time loading.
