The present invention refers to a system for position sensing on a robotic assistant for hospitalization, wherein the robotic aid for hospitalization is a hinged hospital bed. The system comprises a mattress which is arranged on an articulated hospital bed and on which a patient rests and recovers. The hospital bed is capable of molding from a horizontal resting position and to a chair position and then instantly recovering its original shape. Further, it comprises an arrangement of low-resolution pressure sensors incorporated into the mattress, through which information is collected and sent to a central processing unit. Also composed of a casing which is integrated into a single unit to the bed and to the sensors arrangement that incorporates therein. Finally comprising a central processing unit which processes information from the sensors arrangement and determines by said information the position of a patient resting on the mattress.
