An infusion pump (100) comprising: a microprocessor specially programmed (102); a drip chamber (104) for connection to a source (106) fluid and an outlet pipe (108); one pumping section (112) including a plurality of fingers (114) and a first actuator (126) controllable using the microprocessor, for sequentially moving the plurality of fingers to compress sequentially a first portion (121) of the outlet pipe to move the fluid from the drip chamber outlet pipe; an inlet valve (124) disposed between the drip chamber and the pump section and arranged to compress the outlet pipe to restrict or block flow through the outlet pipe; and a second actuator (118) controllable using the microprocessor to at least one of: open or close the valve independent input offset of the plurality of fingers; and operating the inlet valve to control a rate of fluid flow from the drip chamber to the first portion of the outlet pipe.
