A casino chip box and integrated card reader for use by a dealer during the development of a blackjack game in which an initial hand of the dealer includes a face-up card and a face-down card, including the chip box and the integrated card reader: a chip box housing (10) including a front wall (26) and one or several side walls (12) and one or several slots (14) adapted to support one or more casino chips; and a reading apparatus (30, 330) that has an associated structure adapted to receive at least a portion of a face down card, and that has an associated reading structure adapted to allow the reading of at least a portion of said face letter below in order to facilitate the determination of whether said face down card is half of a pair of blackjack, the casino chip box and the integrated card reader are characterized in that: the reading device (30, 330) is integrated in the front wall (26) of the card box housing (10), and of said card face down, the viewing hole (48, 348, 448) being integrated in an upper surface of the front wall (26).
