Oral care compositions comprising higher levels of bioavailability of cetylpyridinium chloride

An oral care mouthwash composition comprising: (a) 0.05 to 0.1% by weight of the cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) composition and (b) a pharmaceutically acceptable liquid carrier comprising, by weight of the composition, 60% to 95% water, 5% to 30% glycerin, 0.04% to 2% of a flavoring agent, 0.01% to 3% by weight of a sweetening agent, and 0.001% to 0.5% of a coloring agent; wherein the composition contains less than 0.1% by weight of surfactants and wherein the composition has at least a 65% bioavailability as determined by the disc retention assay to deliver a bioavailable amount of at least 324 ppm agent quaternary ammonium antimicrobial and wherein the composition does not comprise a preservative and wherein the composition does not comprise ethyl alcohol.
