PERSONALIZED SEARCHABLE LIBRARY WITH HIGHLIGHTING CAPABILITIES

A system and method for preparing and searching a user-personalized library(172) of content includes preparing a general library comprised of images ofpages of content and electronically-searchable text corresponding to the textin the page images (174), which is then personalized by receiving from theuser a selection of the content to include in the user~s personalized library.Full text searching of the content in the user~s personalized library may beenabled. Page images in the personalized library containing text that matchthe user~s search terms are provided to the user for display (176).Highlighting of search terms in page images and access rules that act to limitthe viewing of content are further provided. Methods and apparatus of theinvention also enable users to request access to one or more electronic imagesof pages in a physical text.
