The present invention addresses the problem of providing semiconductor nanoparticles having high luminous efficiency and excellent durability and a method for producing the same, and dispersion liquid and a film which use the semiconductor nanoparticles. In these semiconductor nanoparticles, oxygen, zinc, and sulfur are detected by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and peaks (ICH3) present in 2800 cm-1 to 3000 cm-1 derived from hydrocarbon groups and peaks (ICOO) present in 1400 cm-1 to 1600 cm-1 derived from COO- are detected by Fourier transform infrared spectrometry.
