Disclosed in the present invention are a method and an apparatus for automatically downloading a video based on user bookmarking. The method comprises the steps of: acquiring video information of a bookmarked video file; saving the video information in a bookmarked videos list, and uploading the bookmarked videos list; receiving a video file update list, wherein a correspondence between each updated bookmarked video file and updated video information is stored in the video file update list; extracting information on updated videos, and downloading updated video files according to the updated video information. The method and the device of the present invention for automatically downloading a video based on user bookmarking can acquire updated content of a video file bookmarked by a user and execute automatic buffering, thereby optimizing service content on a multimedia platform.
