The present invention relates to surface-modified activated carbon and a method for adsorptive separation of carbon dioxide using the same. As an adsorbent for adsorptive separation of carbon dioxide contained in a gaseous mixture based on a pressure swing adsorption process, an adsorbent whose surface is modified by nitriding treatment is used. In addition, the adsorbent is used to carry out adsorption/separation of carbon dioxide, thereby realizing relatively high cost-efficiency, a high carbon dioxide adsorption amount and high work capacity in a typical adsorption region of pressure swing adsorption widely applied to the industrial field. It is possible to increase adsorptivity to carbon dioxide after the surface modification, as compared to the non-surface modified activated carbon, to improve work capacity during the pressure swing under 1-7 bars, and to realize a simple and easy adsorptive separation method for carbon dioxide. Therefore, it is possible to obtain high applicability and high cost-efficiency.
