The present invention relates to a method for producing a yolk-shell nanocomposite containing shape-controlled metal nanoparticle, and to an application thereof as a catalyst. To this end, the method for producing the yolk-shell nanocomposite comprises the following steps: a first step of preparing shape-controlled nanoparticles; a second step of coating the nanoparticles with silica so as to acquire a nanoparticle yolk-silica shell structure; a third step of coating the nanoparticle yolk-silica shell structure with metal oxide so as to acquire metal oxide-coated nanoparticle yolk-silica shell structure; and a fourth step of removing silica by treating the metal oxide-coated nanoparticle yolk-silica shell structure with a base so as to acquire a nanoparticle yolk-metal oxide shell structure.
