The present invention relates to a mono-film platinum/palladium core-shell nanoparticle-based hydrogen sensor using self-assembly mono-film (SAM) technology and a manufacturing method thereof. A colloidal Pt/Pd core-shell nanoparticle is synthesized through a chemical route and is assembled with a mono-film in a dioxide silicone/silicone (SiO2/Si) base. The use of the mono-film Pt/Pd core-shell considerably reduces time for the reaction/recovery of a resistant hydrogen sensor based on Pd nanoparticle materials. A quick response of the sensor is considered based on a short spread length of the Pt/Pd core-shell. The sensor shows 69 seconds for recovery and six seconds for reaction at 150 deg. C which is an optimized operation temperature. In addition, the manufactured sensor shows good repetitiveness at 10,000 ppm H2 and a detection range of 10-10,000 ppm, which is able to meet requirements of the H2 sensor for safety application.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2017
