The present invention relates to a device and a method for designing a transmission coil and a reception coil of a wireless power transmission device for transmitting electricity to a catenary status monitoring system. The method of the present invention comprises the steps of: obtaining basic information for a designing operation; finding a possible designing region of an inductance of the transmission coil and the reception coil; inserting a grid into the found possible designing region; calculating transmission efficiency and control stability satisfaction when the transmission coil and the reception coil have an inductance value corresponding to the point of the grid; and comparing the transmission efficiency calculated at a point of the grid, and finding a combination which has maximum transmission efficiency while satisfying control stability. According to the present invention, a wireless power transmission device can be designed to have maximum transmission efficiency in accordance with an installation situation, and electricity is supplied to a catenary status monitoring system by using the same. Thus, costs needed in maintaining and repairing a system can be reduced.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2017
