The present invention relates to a method for producing modified activated carbon for slurry electrodes, and a method for manufacturing a slurry electrode having improved capacity per volume, and more specifically, to a method for modifying activated carbon to improve hydrophilicity and fluidity of the activated carbon, and to a method for manufacturing a slurry electrode by using the modified activated carbon. The modified activated carbon of the present invention, when used as a slurry electrode, occupies a relatively less volume when dispersed in a solvent than the unmodified activated carbon due to hydrophilic characteristics of the surface of the activated carbon, thus allowing larger quantities of the activated carbon to be loaded. Also, in spite of larger quantities of the activated carbon loaded, the modified activated carbon of the present invention can secure fluidity inside the slurry electrode and significantly increase the capacity of the slurry electrode per volume. Accordingly, the slurry electrode using the modified activated carbon according to the present invention may be advantageously used in flow capacitors or flow capacitive deionization devices.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2017
