The present invention relates to a method to detect a detour from a driving route and re-search a driving route on an intersection using an image recognition system and, more specifically, relates to a method to detect the detour from the driving route and re-search a driving route using an image acquisition by a camera and saved image data when a vehicle enters or exits from an intersection and detours from a driving route on the intersection. The present invention is able to identify a current position when there is no or incorrect GPS signal in a region with high-rise buildings such as an intersection in a city center; rapidly re-search the next expected driving route in case of detour; save only the actual road image of a specific region such as an intersection, and compare and match it with an image of a camera; and reduce a load of the system by allowing the system to operate only when it is needed to recognize an image such as when there is an intersection. According to the present invention, the method to detect the detour from a driving route and re-search a driving route an intersection using an image recognition system comprises: a step of saving a road image of a certain area on a map image database; a step of turning on the image recognition system and a camera; a step of acquiring a road image in a direction of entering an intersection; a step of determining in which direction the vehicle has moved after the vehicle has passed through the intersection; and a step of determining that the vehicle has detoured from the driving route, and re-searching the driving route.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2017
