Disclosed is a method for tracking an image based on a structural similarity index. According to the present invention, the method for tracking an image based on a structural similarity index comprises the steps of: selecting a search region in an image; extracting a target candidate within the selected search region, and applying a convolution multiplication component to the extracted target candidate; calculating a structural similarity index for the target candidate; and determining a target location on the basis of the structural similarity index for the target candidate.
