The present invention relates to an ultrasound contrast medium containing poly(vanillin oxalate) (PVO) nanoparticles. According to the present invention, the PVO nanoparticles produce CO_2 bubbles by hydrogen peroxide, and give rise to resonance with ultrasonic frequencies, thereby amplifying ultrasound signals and being useful as ultrasound contrast media.
