The present invention relates to a system and methods and servers for creating and using lists to support rendering of web pages by a computing device. Many computing devices can render web pages and generate metadata. The server can collect and use metadata to generate lists. The list may provide information describing formats and priorities for loading web page resources. The computing device may send information to the server for comparison with the list and to determine priorities and formats for retrieving the resources of the web page. The server can request web page resources based on the list information and send it to the computing device, and the computing device can render the web page for the list information. The server can access the web page and generate the metadata to generate the list. The server may alternatively transmit list information to the computing device.;
