FIELD: medicine.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, and concerns a method for predicting the efficacy of monotherapy with oral antidiabetic drug metformin in patients with type 2 diabetes. Method consists in the fact that in patients with type 2 diabetes DNA is extracted from peripheral venous blood, followed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and conducting analysis to detect polymorphism AC rs 622342 of OST1 gene.
