FIELD: physics.;SUBSTANCE: studying the documents is carried out, the optical characteristic of the security element of which is exposed to the magnetic field, in which a valuable document is transported through the magnetic field, which is not uniform in the transverse direction to the transporting direction and/or varies with time, an image of, at least, one portion of the valuable document is recorded with a security element, and the image data, describing the image, are formed. Optical characteristics of the security element are exposed to the magnetic field, and the it is checked, whether theses images, which describe the image area showing the security element, corresponding to the spatial dependence of the magnetic field, have a spatial dependence being transverse to the transporting direction and/or a spatial dependence in the transporting direction corresponding to the time dependence of the magnetic field.;EFFECT: expanding the range of tools for the same purpose.;26 cl, 18 dwg
