The invention relates to a method for operating a Corex plant or a Finex plant for producing sponge iron and pig iron having a reduction device and a melt gasifier, in which coking gas is processed and used as reducing gas during operation of the Corex plant or Finex plant. Furthermore, an associated attachment is disclosed.
