The present disclosure relates to a method for synthesizing nanostructured iron doped strontium titanate powder The method can include forming one of an aqueous reaction solution and an organic solvent reaction solution, the one of the aqueous reaction solution and the organic solvent reaction solution comprising a plurality of precursors and one or more reagents, and applying an hydrothermal or solvothermal treatment to the one of the aqueous reaction solution and the organic solvent reaction solution to form the iron doped strontium titanate powder.
