PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable accurate estimation of a difficulty class of text.SOLUTION: A characteristic quantity extraction unit 30 computes an appearance frequency of each word on the basis of a picture book text that has been assigned with a morphological analysis result by a pre-processing unit 228, and a difficulty estimation unit 232 estimates a likelihood, for each difficulty class, that the picture book text belongs to the difficulty class on the basis of the appearance frequency of each word in the picture book text and an occurrence probability of each word predetermined for each difficulty class and stored in an occurrence probability storage unit 240, and then outputs a difficulty class having a highest likelihood to an output unit 250.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
