The invention relates to the methods for counteracting improvised explosive devices which are placed on the roads through which civilian and military vehicles or automobile columns pass. To prevent from explosion, we usually use radio interferometers mounted in a vehicle in the column. The on-board interferometer antennas are generally omnidirectional. This does not exclude the option to use directional antennas. The omnidirectional antennas emit in their vertical plane the maximum energy at a given angle upward from the horizon. When the vehicle approaches the controlled radio mine, the radiated interfering signal starts to decrease from a given distance until the minimum radiated power is reached when it is above the mine. An activation signal is then sent to the mine. To counteract this effect, the SIRIO antenna is replaced by a spiral antenna that is mounted underneath the vehicle. It is broadband and emits, in this case, only downwards. In this situation, the maximum power is obtained when the vehicle is above the mine and the radio activation is impossible. When the antenna is mounted underneath the vehicle, the possibility of radiocommunication in the column is increased due to fewer disturbances on the radio stations.
