The present invention relates to an arc resistant acrylic fiber comprising an infrared absorber in an amount of 1-30% by weight with respect to the total weight of an acrylic polymer. The present invention likewise relates to an arc protective garment fabric including arc resistant acrylic fiber, wherein the infrared absorbent content with respect to the total weight of the fabric is 0.5% by weight or more. The present invention likewise relates to an arc protective garment fabric including a cellulosic fiber which also comprises an infrared absorber and a flame retardant, and wherein the average total reflectivity with respect to incident light with a wavelength from 750 to 2500 nm is 60% or less. The present invention likewise relates to an arc protective garment including the arc protective garment fabric.
