A modeling blank is described to produce an indirect dental restoration composed of resin or a resin-based composite containing water in an amount of at least 25% of the wsp water sorption. Further disclosed is a method for producing such modeling blanks or a molded part thereof for use as an indirect dental restoration, a use of the water sorption method, a kit for producing indirect restorations and a method for indirect dental restoration.
