Processes for the production of acroleina through liquid phase dehydration of glycerol, and to the production of acrylic acid from glycerol.The present invention relates to a process for the production of acroleina through liquid phase dehydration of glycerol by preparing a mixture of a catalyst in suspension in a solvent orgu00e2nICO comprising one or more polymers of vinyl chloride and glycerol; and then mix and heat the mixture between 150 and 350 C 198 198 C to dehydrate the glycerol and form acroleina.The vinyl polymers are selected among the group consisting of polyolefins, polystyrene, and mixture thereof.The polyolefins are polyethylene, polypropylene, polybutylene, polyisobutylene, polyisoprene, polipenteno, or mixtures of the same.The acrolcu00edna may be subject to oxidation in the form of steam in the presence of a catalyst, such as a metal oxide mixed to produce acrylic acid.
