The invention relates to probiotic microorganism strain Lactobacillus plantarum Inducia DSM 21379 which can be used as an antimicrobial agent in lowering the risk of Clostridium difficile associated diarrhoea (CDAD) of endogenous or exogenous origin by preventing germination of C. difficile spores and by suppressing proliferation of C. difficile vegetative cells. L. plantarum Inducia can be used simultaneously with antibiotic treatment. The compositions against C. difficile may further comprise xylitol.
