A METHOD FOR STABILIZING AN AYURVEDIC WOUND HEALING FORMULATION

The invention provides a method for stabilizing an ayurvedic wound healing formulation, Panchavalkala kvatha, by using a biocompatible and a biodegradable polymeric substance such as poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG), and a food preservative with anti- microbial activity such as sodium salt of methyl p-hydroxybenzoate. The addition of PEG increases the stability of the drug particles in the drug suspension and prevents or reduces their agglomeration, subsequently, reducing flocculation, which helps to maintain the drug in suspension and remain active. The addition of a food preservative further increases the shelf-life of the drug suspension. Figure 1 on sheet no. 1 of the drawings may accompany the abstract when published.
