摘要

The present invention relates to an improved process for preparation of 2,5-dimethylfuran (2,5-DMF). The said process comprises of a novel, acidity promoted palladium-cesium dodeca-tungstophosphoric acid supported on K-10 clayheterogeneous catalyst for facilitating rapid hydrogenelolysis of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) to 2,5-dimethylfuran (2,5-DMF) at mild reaction condition and devoid of acidic medium. The palladium loading supported on acid support helps to accelerate the reactionat lower temperature and pressure and devoid of acid solution.
