The invention relates to a mechanism for securing and protecting catheters or invasive medical devices, which is jointed to the skin (3) of a user and which houses the catheter or invasive medical device (2). The mechanism includes a base part (6) comprising: a tapered cylindrical body (8) which extends through an incision in the user's skin (3) and receives the catheter or invasive medical device (2); and at least one flange on the base (10), which is disposed beneath the user's skin (3). The mechanism also includes a complementary closure part (7) comprising: a cylindrical body (12) equipped with a through-hole for receiving the tapered cylindrical body (8); and at least two closure projections (17) extending from one end of the cylindrical body (12), which are disposed beneath the user's skin (3) and stitched to same.
