An eddy-current flaw detection device including magnetic elementsevenly spaced in each of at least two rows that are formed aroundthe surface of a column shaped casing that is formed such that itcan be inserted into a conductive pipe. A first row is located at aposition that differs from a second row by 1/2 the even spacing inthe row direction. Switching circuits switch the magnetic elementsin the respective row of the magnetic element group at each timeslot. During a given time slot, a given magnetic element in the firstrow is switched to excite a magnetic field, and two magneticelements of the second row, which are located at positions thatdiffer from the given magnetic element by 3/2 the even spacing, function as magnetic field detection elements that detect amagnetic field.
