A method for extracting methane from coal beds includes creating acoustic,electrical, mechanical and hydrodynamic compressive/tensile stresses byapplyingperiodic short pulses generated via the explosion of a calibrated conductorlocatedin the operating range of a well of a source of oscillations, the energy ofwhich isled to the coal bed. A slotted perforation is created in the well, saidperforationbeing oriented along the directions of the main stresses in the coal bed, anadditional slotted perforation is created in penetrating rock whichencompassesthe coal bed, and the additional slotted perforation is directed along thedirectionsof the main stresses of the rock encompassing the coal bed, enhancing theacoustic and hydrodynamic cavitation of gas bubbles emitted from the coal,cracks, microcracks, pores, micropores, capillaries and microcapillaries ofthe coalbed, and also from the cracks and microcracks created in the penetrating rockencompassing the coal bed. The technical result of the proposed methodconsistsin increasing coal methane production, in reducing energy consumption, and inincreasing the safety and environmental-friendliness of the process.
