In one embodiment, a simulation of the evolution of a tumour in the prostate gland of a subject is based on at least one coupled system of reaction-diffusion equation and a patient-specific geometric model of the prostate gland of the subject. The use of reaction-diffusion equations and a patient-specific geometric model provides a tumour model that predicts the expected progress of prostate cancer in the subject. The tumour model can be used to design a treatment adapted to the subject.
