The networking method for centralized meter reading comprises the following steps: step a: creating in a repeater multiple routing tables respectively attributed to different networks, providing corresponding network IDs and network addresses; step b: acquiring a network ID number in a data packet received, comparing with the network IDs in the multiple routing tables, determining whether the network ID number is found in the multiple routing tables; if yes, proceeding to step c; and if not, proceeding to step e; step c: acquiring a network address of a target repeater of the data packet, comparing with a repeater network address under the network ID, determining whether the two are consistent; if yes, then proceeding to step d; and if not, proceeding to step e; step d: calling the routing table of a router under the network, forwarding the data packet to the target address; and step e: end. The employment of the present scheme solves the problem of communication interruption caused by repeater attribution instability.
