The present invention relates to a GPU-parallel interpolation apparatus and method using edge direction-based normal vectors for a terrain triangular mesh. According to the present invention, the GPU-parallel interpolation apparatus using edge direction-based normal vectors for a terrain triangular mesh comprises: a normal calculating unit which receives a digital elevation model from a CPU and calculates a normal vector of triangle surfaces by three-dimensional correspondence; an interpolation unit which decomposes all the normal vectors calculated by the normal calculation unit into three corresponding components and obtains three corresponding components of the normal vectors at each node using edge direction-based GPU parallel interpolation; and an adding unit which combines the three corresponding components obtained by the interpolation unit into a new normal vector.
