Disclosed is a method to evaluate a soil loss based on a geographic information system (GIS). According to the present invention, the method comprises: a step of using an image classification method (forest-normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), water area-near infrared band, rice paddy and field-wetting index, downtown (city)-heat infrared band) by each land cover item, such as a downtown, a farmland (rice paddy, field), a forest, a road, a water area, etc., from the latest Landsat image to construct a land cover map used for soil loss analysis; a step of constructing GIS data, such as a land map, a digital elevation model (DEM), etc., to calculate a revised universal soil loss equation (RUSLE) factor required for an RUSLE model; a step of calculating the amount of soil loss (A); and a step of simulating the amount of soil loss of each small area to check the small area weak at the soil loss.
