The present invention relates to a method for detecting a failure of rotating machinery by using wavelet entropy (WE) and a cyclic logarithmic envelope spectrum (CLES). According to an aspect of the present invention, the method for detecting a failure of a rotating machinery by using WE and CLES includes: a first step of obtaining vibration signals from the rotating machinery; a second step of adjusting the step size of an adaptive filter based on the WE to reduce the noise included in the vibration signals; a third step of using the speed fluctuation of the vibration signals to generate tachometer signals; a fourth step of tracking the order of an event occurring in each rotation count based on the tachometer signals to remove the frequency fluctuation of the vibration signals; and a fifth step of detecting a failure of the rotating machinery by using the CLES of the vibration signals.
