The present invention provides a device and a method for generating a graphic user interface (GUI) for controlling an external device. The device for generating the GUI for controlling a plurality of external devices comprises: a communication interface for communicating with the plurality of external devices and downloading a plurality of control applications to control the plurality of external devices; a processor for collecting function information to control the plurality of external devices from the downloaded plurality of control applications and providing an integrated application to control the plurality of external devices by using the collected function information; and a display unit for displaying the GUI to control the plurality of external devices when the integrated application is executed.
