The present invention relates to an animal model of depression, overexpressing a brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), and a production method for the same. More specifically, the present invention relates to an animal model of depression, which is transformed to express a brain-derived neurotrophic factor in the ventral tegmental area (VTA) of the mesolimbic system; and a production method for the same. The present inventors have proven that the oversecretion of BDNF may induce the symptoms of depression, can suppress the signal transduction of a brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in nucleus accumbens that increases in response to chronic defeat stress by administering ANA-12, and can reduce depressed behaviors by suppressing a BDNF. Accordingly, the present invention is a method of suppressing the BDNF gene expression in the ventral tegmental area, which is a main area of mesolimbic BDNF production, and thus can be expected to be useful in the treatment of neurosis such as depression.
