The present invention relates to a Ti-based coating composition to form a coating layer having excellent wear resistance and low friction and a coating method. The present invention provides a coating composition which comprises 10.0-40.0 at. % of Ti, 5.0-20.0 at. % of Cr, 35.0-70.0 at. % of C, the maximum 10.0 at. % of Ni, and other impurities.
