The present invention relates to a DEAD-box RNA helicase 8 gene and a method for improving resistance to drought stress of a plant using the gene and protein. The present invention relates to the DEAD-box RNA helicase 8 gene encoding positive regulator protein about drought stress. Specifically, the RH 8 gene interacts with PP2Cs in the drought stress of the plant and performs a role as a positive regulator in an ABA signal transmission device. The present invention confirms the effect in which the DEAD-box RNA helicase 8 gene can control resistance on drought in the plant. So, the Dead-box RNA helicase 8 gene is used to improve crops which people can use by controlling revelation of the RH 8 gene and, therefore, can improve productivity of the plant.
