There is provided a female electrical contact for a cable connector comprising a cage (4) for receiving a tongue (3) of a male contact. The cage 4 comprises two lateral elastic resilient retaining blades 16 which enable to restrict lateral movement of the tongue 3, in particular under the influence of vibrations. These resilient retaining blades 16 can also be supported for the purpose of restricting movement of the cage 4 within the sleeve 6 on the protective sleeve 6 surrounding the cage 4.
