The present invention relates to an electric vehicle charging apparatus installed in an electric pole, which provides an environment in which power converted by a transformer connected to a power distribution line is safely used in charging an electric vehicle. The electric vehicle charging apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a first port configured to supply power to an electric vehicle; a second port configured to receive power converted by a transformer connected to a power distribution line; a blocking part switching an open/close state between the first port and the second port; and a control part that receives load information of a transformer and controls the blocking part to electrically open between the first port and the second port when a load amount corresponding to the load information is larger than a reference load amount.
